This blog is under construction!

Still working on it folks. Many ideas came and went in the course of 24 hours, hope to have it all sorted out by the end of the week and start giving people some good information!

The Story of The Green Bike

Well, I'm 34 years old and a divorced mother of 3 girls. It seems over the past year my focus has been around my career and what I'd like to do next. Currently I am an RN at a natural childbirth center; a job I love. I am on-call full time but only work part time, so I'm usually home with my kids. That is until this fall when my youngest will be starting first grade and that will mean all 3 of them will be in school 6 hours a day. So the question I've been asking myself is: what am I going to do with all that free time?! Not being a fan of soap operas, (I'm more the active, go-getter type) I decided to go back to school to attain my masters degree and at the same time find a way to do something with my many interests, modest talents and surprisingly impressive writing abilities. But what?
Enter The Green Bike. It was on the curb outside a local bike shop, I'd driven past it numerous times, admiring it, before I finally decided to go in and ask how much it cost. Being somewhat of a bike collector, and having already bought 2 bikes this year (one used, one new) I had to ask myself, "Do I really need another bike?" It was not as pretty close up; it was an old tank of a bike, and rusty, but when I got on it... oh baby did that thing ride like butter!! Maybe I didn't really need another bike, but for only $100, I needed this one. As the day progressed I became more in love with, and inspired by, the green bike. It has come to embody my vision of a future where old is new, products are built to last and are repaired instead of discarded, people borrow, share, recycle and otherwise learn to work a little harder at living within the means of our great and abundant earth. "She" can support everyone if we all work a bit harder to respect her and use her resources wisely.
I decided to start this blog, and a website (coming soon) dedicated to inspiring people to make simple, easy changes in their lifestyles. The most revolutionary of which being to get suburban dwellers out of their 4-wheel gas guzzlers and on to a 2-wheel, pedal powered pleasure ride! Sounds unlikely to you? We will see ;)
Down with the age of gas power and on with the age of ass power! ;)
